Monarch butterfly

Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) can be considered super butterflies. They start their flight from Canada and southern part of the United States in October to escape cold season and overwinter in the forests of Central Mexico. In order to get there, they cover up to 4,000 km of long and dangerous journey. Many of the winged travellers perish on the way. During annual migration cycle, life is passed on and it takes four generations to complete the journey. Yet those butterflies, who finally reach their destination, can still unmistakably return to the location, where their ancestors began their journey. They are carried on the wings of butterfly wisdom.
